Water Filtration Services from the Experts at Mr. Rooter® Plumbing

Every business needs access to clean, drinkable water - a water treatment and purification system provides just that. Even if your business is in an area with excellent drinking water, a filter can still protect you against water contamination events.

Installing a water softener or filter improves the taste of your water and the performance of your plumbing system. Both eliminate hard water, reducing the likelihood of pipe clogs and improving your appliances' efficiency. This leads to fewer maintenance calls and issues with your pipes and appliances.

At Mr. Rooter® Plumbing, our plumbers have been performing water treatment and purification services for decades. Our experienced plumbers receive regular training on the latest plumbing system innovations, so you can rely on them to correctly install the right treatment option for your building. How Water Treatment and Purification Works

Water treatment and purification equipment is designed to remove contaminants and minerals from your water. A whole-building water filter or softener filters water as soon as it leaves the water main. Both of these water purification options leave you with cleaner, safer water.

Types of Water Filtration Systems

Different types of water purification systems filter out different materials. Your ideal filtration system depends on your specific water issue(s). Some examples of water filtration systems include:

  • Carbon filters – Water is filtered through carbon bricks. The bricks remove impurities through a chemical reaction. You'll notice your water has a better flavor right away. Carbon filter systems require regular filter changes.
  • Reverse osmosis – A more complex type of water filtration, reverse osmosis utilizes a semi-permeable membrane, which intercepts contaminants as the water flows through the filter. These systems catch smaller contaminants than carbon filters do.
  • Water softeners – These systems are specifically designed to remove minerals from water. They use a process called ion exchange to cleanse the water of magnesium and calcium. During this process, hard water enters a mineral tank in the softener and flows through a pile of resin beads. These plastic beads are charged with a sodium ion, which attracts and traps the calcium and magnesium ions. Once the calcium and magnesium have been removed, the water exits the softener and flows into your plumbing system.
