The county seat of Wayne County is Detroit, a city rich with history and culture. Established in 1701, Detroit is a complex system of old and new growth with substantial growth in the early 20th century as Motor City earned its moniker. The area has an abundance of water sources with the many lakes and rivers throughout Wayne County, serving as early transportation routes for growing industries. The historic homes and buildings often have antiquated plumbing systems, making sewer and plumbing services a key industry. Currently the area is rebounding with new technologies and arts districts, making Detroit America’s Comeback City.
