  • Orangeburg pipe was made after WWII. It was used because it was affordable and readily available. Orangeburg pipe, also known as fiber or tar paper, was popular during the 50s, 60s and early 70s until PVC began to make its way. Orangeburg pipe has a limited structural life. It deforms and allows infiltrations and root intrusion. This Bellefonte resident has deformed Orangeburg pipe. You might have Orangeburg pipe if your home was built between the 50s and early 70s in Centre County.

  • The village of Park Forest is known for bad root intrusion. This homeowner's pipes had roots every 2 feet in the joints. Roots cause many problems for homeowners. Toilet paper, soap scum, and things flushed or drained builds up on the roots which eventually leads to back ups into basements, sinks, or toilets. Roots can crack, separate, or even crush pipes. In these cases the pipes needs replaced. We recommend Park Forest residents to have their pipes camera inspected by Mr. Rooter Plumbing.

  • Mr. Rooter technicians we called out to a main line blockage to a septic tank. After hours of cabling, the line would not clear. But that did not stop Benjamin and Vernon from finding the problem. Camera inspecting the line was not an option because the line was full of water/sewage. However they did locate the blockage with the camera locator. They dug up the line to find the problem: a break. The techs leveled and connected the line and added a clean out near the septic tank.

  • Many people prefer snaking a clog (also known as cabling) over the pricier hydroscrubbing. Mr. Rooter Plumbing is here to show you the difference. Snaking is good for a paper clog when no grease, roots, or muck is present. If grease, roots, or muck is present a snake will only poke a hole in the problem like shown in the photo above, and a clog will return. Hydroscrubbing will completely clean the pipe; washing all the muck away. Know the difference and choose the right tool to fix your clog.
