Mondays for Moms: Flushables

Tip#2: Only flush toilet paper
Today, you can find many products that say “flushable” on the packaging. It might go down your toilet, but that doesn’t mean it has left your home drain lines. Not to mention, it will most likely get stuck at your local sewer plant.
Avoid the headache of a clogged toilet or main line. Throw your baby wipes in the trashcan.
Don’t flush items like:
- Baby Wipes
- Wet Wipes
- Paper towels
- Anything but toilet paper
- Toilet paper and bowel movements
Photo: wipes pulled out of a home drain line by Mr. Rooter. There were so many wipes lodged in the drain line that they could fill a 5-gallon bucket. (The black coloring on the wipes is evidence of broken down protein. Proteins break down after a while when they sit in drain lines. This means the wipes have built up over a long period of time.)
