Meet Your Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Binghamton
-
Tom & Jamie Markham
Owner
Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Binghamton has been a locally owned Plumbing and Drain Cleaning company located in the Broome County area for over 30 years. Originally franchised by Tom and Jamie’s father Earl Markham and his business partner at the time Rick Holden. After a few years in business Earl bought out Rick and ran the company up until the end of 2019 when he passed the franchise onto his sons Tom and Jamie.
Throughout High School and College Tom and Jamie worked for Earl’s vaunted “Lawn Crew” over summers and during school breaks. Doing basic lawn maintenance and manual labor at the shop and various properties while being available to be spare labor for the senior techs on large job sites and dig jobs. Many of our technicians came up through the lawn crew as well which helped Earl establish that they had a good work ethic and didn’t mind the smell of sewer too much. All these techs ended up being long term employee’s and many are still with us today.
Tom graduated with a Business Degree from SUNY Broome and decided to join the family business in 2011. He worked under Earl as a service tech and completed his Master Plumbing License in 2017 making him the youngest Master Plumber in Broome County at the time. Having worked in the business for 8+ years in the field and slowly taking on more and more responsibility throughout those years made it a seamless transition to running the company and managing the different aspects that came with the being an Owner of the Company.
Jamie graduated from SUNY Binghamton in 2011 with a degree in Financial Economics. He then worked for 7+ years for a local food distribution company Maines Paper and Food in a management role dealing with supply chain and systems operations. In 2017 he came back to the family business as an office manager. Jamie also helps in the field if needed, overseeing specialized drain cleaning equipment and excavations jobsites.
So who is Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Binghamton?
We are a locally owned franchise plumbing & drain cleaning company servicing the Broome County area. The Markham family have been small business owners in the Binghamton area for 3 generations and take pride in calling it home. As small business owners both Tom and Jamie wear multiple different hats each day much as most small business owners must do. Our business wouldn’t work without the dedicated Service Technicians and Customer Services Reps that we take pride in calling our team. Each and everyday they work diligently to deliver outstanding customer service and workmanship for our beloved customers. They adhere daily to our core business values which include:
- The Golden Rule – “Treat others the way you’d like to be treated” – How would you like a Technician to act on a service call at your families House? Treat every customer that way!
- Own the Jobsite – If we touch it we own it. We strive to hold ourselves accountable for any outcome and do our best to resolve any issues or problems that may arise.
- Safety First – Our techs are our # 1 asset and priority. Their health and well-being is more important than any sale.
- Be kind and considerate – Kindness, empathy and being genuine cost us nothing – It’s a free currency that the world could always use a little more of!
In short, we strive to provide the ultimate customer service experience that we possibly can. Our business may be plumbing and drain cleaning but our customers happiness and satisfaction is our currency. We firmly believe in all aspects of our company and will stand behind each and every job.
Thanks for stopping by our company page and getting to know us. We hope you smiled a little while reading this and will be there for you and your family if plumbing or drain issues ever arise in the future. I’ll leave you with a quote from our father Earl when talking about his customers and team “If you surround yourself with quality people son, life and business will take care of itself.”
Sincerely,
Tom and Jamie Markham, and the Team at Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Binghamton.
