What to Do When You Have a Plumbing Emergency
Plumbing emergencies happen to everyone from time to time. If you find yourself in this situation, the first thing to do is not freak out as you need to act fast. Then, you need to follow the right steps in order to get it resolved as quickly as possible.
Here are the two most important things you should do if you find yourself dealing with a plumbing emergency.
Minimize the Damage
In some plumbing emergencies there are some things you can do right away to keep the problem from getting worse. If water has overflowed, do what you can to mop up as much as possible. If you have a wet / dry vacuum, use it to collect as much water as you can. If it's safe to do so, place fans near the area to dry it up and open the windows.
Now, if you have a bigger emergency and a pipe or faucet has busted and water's going everywhere, turn off the water. There is a water shut off valve inside or outside of your house. It's important to know where this is before an emergency arises.
