Some of the most common water valves we see in Branson homes and businesses include:
Ball valve: The modern standard for the main water supply shut-off valve. These have a handle that rotates 90 degrees to open or close the valve quickly and with ease. The main supply shut-off is typically located near where the water line enters the home. This can be in a utility closet, basement, crawlspace, outside by the foundation, or at the water meter.
Gate valve: Older cabins and homes in Branson often have this kind of valve. It turns like a wheel and can open or close slowly. They require consistent maintenance or will seize with age and lack of use. Like the ball valve, the gate valve was commonly used for main water supplies and can be found in similar areas of your home.
Pressure reducing valve: Some homes in the Branson area require this type of pressure valve to ensure safe water pressure. This valve protects your water heater, appliances, and pipes from bursting or getting damaged. When needed, we install this valve right by the main water valve.
Temperature and pressure relief valve: Different from the above, this valve is installed on water heaters and automatically opens as a safety measure if your tank temperature or pressure becomes dangerous.
Check valve: Most commonly used for backflow prevention. A series of these valves and a relief valve create a backflow preventer system, which is required for homes with access to public water, to protect against cross-contamination of wastewater and freshwater.
Fixture shut-off valve: Found at the base or where the water line connects to appliances, such as the toilet, shower, washing machine, sinks, etc., to prevent water flow to a specific fixture. This valve lets our expert plumbers repair a specific area without completely shutting off your home's water supply.
Hose bibbs and frost-free spigots: Outdoor connections to the water line that allow water hose connections and freshwater access outdoors. Branson’s Municipal Code requires homes to have frost-free spigots unless otherwise permitted.
