You probably don’t give much thought to your boiler throughout the day — that is, until it stops working. Even though we live in California, cold winter mornings are very real here in San Francisco. If temperatures start to drop, your boiler may be pushed to its limits and stop working.
Common Boiler Problems
If you’re noticing any of the below problems, give the experts at Mr. Rooter a call.
1. Banging and Gurgling Sounds
If you’re constantly hearing strange noises coming from your boiler, it could be caused by:
- Air in the system
- Low pressure
- A failing pump
Fortunately, this is a relatively easy problem to fix and can be cured by bleeding your radiator.
2. The Boiler Keeps Turning Off
Unfortunately, a boiler that keeps turning off can be caused by a number of different problems, including low water pressure, thermostat issues, poor air or water circulation, or a closed water valve.
Because it may be hard to identify the problem, give us a call for a quick diagnosis and fix.
3. Your Radiator Doesn’t Get Warm
Does your radiator stay cold no matter how high you turn your thermostat up? One of the main causes of a cold radiator is air in the system or rust buildup in the pipes.
To fix this, we suggest bleeding the system to expel excess air. If that doesn’t work, you may have to power flush the system to get rid of the rust.
