When you notice a clogged or backed up drain, there could be a number of potential causes of the issue. Similarly, if there is a leak deep in the pipes, it could be due to something entering the pipe, causing some type of clog, such as a tree root. To help clear the pipe, a professional plumber may turn to a method known as hydro-jetting. This is something that not many individuals know about and are unaware of how it works. We’re here to help.
How it Works
Typically, hydro-jet nozzles are set up so the water stream exits in two different directions. Most of the water pressure comes from the back of the nozzle, aimed at the inside walls of the pipes. The other is the front of the nozzle, working to help clear the way in front of the equipment. The pressure from the water propels the nozzle through the pipes while cleaning away the debris inside the pipe. It is strong enough to clear tree roots from the pipe, as well, allowing for repairs on any cracks and leaks.
Normally, some plumbers may opt to use snakes, or homeowners use chemicals to get rid of bad clogs. While these ways will work, using chemical cleaners may be more harmful and a snake may not get everything out of the pipes. Hydro-jetting is a faster, easier way to get off more debris and more of the problems causing your pipes trouble.
