If you want to start saving as much water as possible in your Seattle, WA home, then here are some tips to help you conserve water and keep the planet a little greener!
Turn Off the Water
Turn off the water when you shave in the shower or brush your teeth. You should also turn off the water when you wash dishes and use a rinse pan, to rinse dishes. You can waste many gallons of water for every minute that your water runs without you using it! Put a bucket in your bathroom and collect the water in your shower that you run to adjust your temperature. This is water that could be for plants!
Flush Less
If you are living in a micro apartment or tiny house in the Seattle area, you already know how important it is to conserve! If you want to save more water, try to flush waste that isn’t solid less. There are toilets that do this as well, you can choose the amount of water you want to use. You can also get a composting toilet.
Use Less to Wash
Use a timer in your shower. If you don’t take baths, you can’t gauge how much water you waste down the drain. Using a timer and only running water when you need to suds up and rinse off will allow you to use much less water. You can also conserve water in the bathtub by only filling it part of the way!
Water Lawn and Plants in the Morning
If you water your plants and lawn in the morning the water will soak in more than during the heat of the day.
Use Less Water in the Dishwasher
Only run the dishwasher if it is full so that you aren’t wasting water.
