Common Septic System Concerns

Detached Dividing Wall: This common issue in septic systems occurs when the two compartments of the septic tank become unsecured or shift, leading to system failure. Full/Overflowing Tank: When a septic tank reaches capacity, it can lead to sewage spilling over, disrupting the drain field, and resulting in surface pooling. Tree Roots: Tree root damage to septic systems is a common yet avoidable issue involving trees and plants being planted too close to septic tanks, leading to damage. Tank Corrosion: It’s not uncommon for septic tank walls to corrode, leading to the need for replacement, especially when hydrogen sulfide gas is trapped in one or more of the tank’s compartments.

  • I would definitely recommend Mr. Rooter. My main line drain was clogged, and it could not be cleared from the normal entry point that was at ground level. I called Mr. Rooter and Richard came out the same day and explained what was going on and how it could be dealt with. He returned the next day with his co-workers, Jerry and Robert. They worked together and were able to clear the main drain by accessing the entry point from the roof. They even ran a camera down and sent me the video.

  • I came here to write a glowing review! This past tuesday night, our basement flooded after the storms we had. Realized the flooding at about 730. We called a few 24 hour plumbers, but the soonest they could get to us was next morning. Then we called Mr. Rooter. They advised that a service guy could be out in 2 hours! Our guys name was Chad, and he made it seem like we were his only call of the day, even though he showed up at nearly 1030pm! Turned out we needed a new sump pump and our old one was clogged. He was super professional, personable, and really nice. He was also very fair with his pricing; he said he likes to treat others the way he would want to be treated. You dont get that kind of customer service these days. He explained exactly what was wrong with the old sump pump, and what the new one featured. He gave us several suggestions, including calling a company he refers to clean up and fix the wet mess, and he said this company works with our insurance to cover it! We had no idea, so we were forever grateful for his prompt and friendly service, and for putting our minds at ease! If you need an immediate plumbing service, Mr. Rooter is your company!

  • Mr. Rooter sent two technicians on a Sunday morning within 2 hours of my phone call to check a potential gas leak. The phone call was pleasant and easy, the technicians were knowledgeable and polite. The check was completed in a timely manner, but thoroughly done. I received copies of all pictures and documents via email within ten minutes of their departure. Call them. They rock.

  • I called to get an estimate for replacing the main water supply line to my house. Router was the first to get a tech out. Marcos quickly gave me an estimate and covered all the concerns I had. The estimate was free, but I sure hope I get a cheaper estimate from someone!

  • The plumbers who used a backhoe to investigate my leaky pipe in front yard were wonderful!! Very respectful of property and bushes and found the problem right away. Before leaving the hole was filled and everything ready to reseed with no effort. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter for any plumbing needs inside or outside your home. Very informative and friendly. Would hire them again in a heartbeat!

  • Fantastic plumbers! Great communication, responded very quickly. Mike worked on a particularly difficult job that was much harder than initially thought but he kept at it and did a great job. Really appreciate that they try to keep the mess and hassle to a minimum.

Frequently Asked Questions About Septic System Repair in Kings Mills, Ohio

If you have questions about septic system repair in Kings Mills, you can read our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ below. The team at Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Kings Mills, Ohio is here to answer any questions you have about our service offerings.

  • How much you can expect to pay for a new septic tank can depend on many factors like your town or city, property, and the septic tank replacement business in your area. The type of pump you choose for your septic tank installation can contribute to its overall cost, such as a centrifugal pump or a turbine pump. Septic system costs can vary depending on your choice, with conventional septic systems often being more cost-effective than waterless, aerobic, drip distribution, chamber, and other types. Talk to your local septic tank replacement team about septic tank replacement costs since the size of your tank can play a part in how much you pay for this service.

  • Septic tank repair service providers must consider many factors when pricing septic tank repairs for their customers, but the average price range is around $650 to $6,500. You may find that you pay hundreds of dollars for minor septic tank issues like light cracks and thousands for more severe issues like a collapsed drain field or a major septic tank crack. Septic tank service providers can charge property owners more to repair larger septic tanks than smaller ones because they typically require more time and materials. If your septic tank is obstructed or in a hard-to-reach location, your chosen septic tank service provider may charge more to repair it based on the time needed to access it.

  • If your septic tank hasn’t been well maintained over its lifetime, you may expect it to not last as long as a septic tank that has received regular maintenance. When you rely on professionals to install your septic tank and maintain it throughout its lifespan, you can typically expect it to last up to four decades, with the average lifespan being 15 to 40 years. The construction materials of your septic tank can sometimes contribute to its lifespan, with concrete and fiberglass tanks often lasting longer than steel tanks, which can be prone to corrosion and rust. Your pumping routine, site conditions, soil quality, and usage all contribute to septic tank lifespans, alongside how it was designed and installed.

  • If you’re having trouble finding your septic tank, look for surface clues like unusual vegetation and grass growth in some areas and depressions in the ground. When you’re a new property owner who wants to understand the condition of your septic tank, you may be able to find more information on your property inspection records and any information left by the previous owners. If you have the building plans for your property, review them to see if there’s a drawing, description, or key to show where your septic tank is located. Some septic tanks can be particularly difficult to find, so don’t be afraid to talk to your local service provider, who can provide advice or help you find yours with their special equipment.

  • If you know your septic tank has collapsed, contact a trusted septic tank service provider immediately since leaking sewage can be a health hazard for property occupants. As soon as you know your septic tank has collapsed, refrain from using it since it’s no longer taking care of your wastewater as it should. Worsening property damage will likely result from continued use of a collapsed septic tank, such as detached pipes that cause wastewater to back up, while increasing the likelihood of sinkholes. Refrain from using your septic tank once you’re aware that it has collapsed because the health hazards they present may mean you’re at risk of legal trouble.

  • Keeping your septic tank in good working order can be as easy and straightforward as booking regular septic tank pumping through a trusted service provider in your area. Maintaining a septic tank can be as straightforward as being mindful of what you flush down your drains, knowing it will end up in your septic system. Don’t underestimate the importance of drain field care for keeping your septic system healthy, such as installing sump pumps and rainwater drainage systems away from it, not parking vehicles on it, and not planting trees near it. Whether you’re a homeowner or business owner, you can stay on top of septic system maintenance by using water efficiently, using toilet paper designed for septic systems, and not tipping harsh chemicals down your drains.

  • Whether you have basic repair knowledge or not, leaving septic tank repairs to licensed and insured service professionals with years of experience is in your best interest. If you need to replace or repair baffles and filters in your septic tank, you’ll need to inspect the problematic parts, order new ones, and replace any damaged components you come across. Septic tanks often have maintenance holes and access ports, so homeowners can carry out repairs, but you may need to excavate the dirt surrounding your septic tank to make these available. After performing your own septic tank repairs, you may not know whether you’ve been successful, so look for signs of leaking or poor performance before and after your repairs.

  • Septic tank repairs may be covered by your homeowners’ insurance policy if the damage was a result of hail, fires, lightning, or windstorms that aren’t in your control. Explosions that cause damage to your septic tank are often covered under homeowners’ insurance policies, so you can rest assured that you can have your tank repaired or replaced. Depending on the circumstances, you may receive coverage through your homeowners’ insurance provider if your septic tank is damaged due to vandalism or a natural disaster. Insurance companies don’t typically cover septic tank repairs when they relate to a lack of maintenance and wear and tear since homeowners can often prevent such damage.

  • Easily among the most commonly encountered issues with septic tanks are clogs and blockages, which can require the assistance of experienced septic tank service providers to rectify. Cracks are, unfortunately, an all-too-common septic tank issue and are often due to the age of the septic system, ground movement, and pressure. It’s not uncommon to experience issues like drain backups and sewage overflows when you have a high-usage tank, poor maintenance practices, or irregular septic tank pumping schedules. A poorly installed drain field, an old septic system, and tree roots getting in the way can all cause a number of issues for businesses and homeowners.

  • There’s a chance your local trusted septic tank service provider will be able to repair minor cracks in your septic tank using epoxy sealant products. If you’ve noticed light cracks in your septic tank, contact your local septic tank service provider and ask whether they recommend septic tank patching kits with adhesives and patching compounds. Large structural cracks in septic tanks can be serious, but there’s a chance they can be repairable by reinforcing the cracked area with extra materials. Many septic tank experts can recommend replacing your septic tank if the cracks in your current one are too large to repair effectively or are not economical to repair.
