Our 1960 home had a mix of galvanized and copper piping and the water showed signs that the pipes were failing. We got estimates from three companies for a full house repipe, including a new water line from the meter. Gianni Olivo at Mr. Rooter was the middle priced estimate and I chose him to do the project for several reasons. The first is that Gianni spent a couple of hours at the house on his first visit, explored the very tight crawlspace, and discovered solutions to problems the other two companies didn’t. (For example, both other companies told me they would cut into the tile showers and install large chrome plates over the holes. Gianni measured the hallway and the showers, opened the coat closet in the entry hall, and pointed out that both showers backed into the closet and we could open walls inside the closet and not need to cut the tile at all.) Gianni also scoped the sewer before we signed the contract and looked at our cast iron drains and told me they looked good and didn’t need to be replaced at this time. The other two companies said it would be “a good idea” to replace the drains, but didn’t offer to scope any drains. One of the companies didn’t even go into the crawlspace. The drains would have added a significant amount to an already expensive project. I respected Gianni’s honesty about the condition of the drains, and if they need to be replaced in the coming years we will call Mr. Rooter. As to be expected in a 65 year old home, once we opened the walls we found unexpected conditions that required creative solutions. Gianni was flexible and worked with us to minimize the need to open additional walls. He worked in a very low-clearance crawlspace and an attic that was accessible only by an opening in the top of the garage. During the multi-day project Gianni called me at the end of the work day with an update of his progress, and he called when he found “unusual” circumstances that required a change in our plan. We will continue to use Mr. Rooter for all of our plumbing needs because of this excellent experience!

On 5/22/2025 We had a clogged pipe that backed up into our basement laundry room. I called Mr. Rooter, and they had Jason come out here within less an hour. Jason came in and assessed the situation and explained to us what had happened and how to prevent it. He also took the time to check all the piping after getting things fixed & up and running which all looked good (which put our minds at ease as this is my childhood home built in 1974) he also replaced some piping under our kitchen sink (free of charge). By the time Jason left that night, which was late, we were beyond satisfied with our experience. Jason was kind, courteous, and informative.

We tried every conceivable DIY solution to our backed up basement floor drain possible before calling Mr. Rooter. When their service man Phil turned up (very promptly) he outlined what would need to be done. At first I was dubious about the cost, but after watching Phil perform all the very difficult, and physical tasks involved, I realized that “you get what you pay for.” Phil is a dedicated practitioner of his craft and gave every measure to solving our problem. The results speak for themselves, our main sewer pipe is clear all the way to the city street pipe.

When experiencing a plumbing emergency, call your local plumbing professional on their emergency number to schedule plumbing service for you home or business. Many plumbing companies offering emergency plumbing services have a 24/7 call answering service so you can access them if you’re experiencing a plumbing emergency. -
Finding an emergency plumber is more straightforward than you think since you can look for information like contact forms and phone numbers on the websites of many well-established plumbing companies. If you need to find an emergency plumbing expert in a hurry, type, ’emergency plumbers near me’ into the Internet search bar for access to names and numbers of trusted plumbers in your area. If browsing the Internet for an emergency plumber phone numbers seems like too much work, ask friends, family members, neighbors, and other people in your life for a recommendation. -
Prioritizing regular maintenance, such as cleaning drains, maintaining your water heater, and scheduling regular system inspections through your local trusted plumbing professional are great ways to avoid plumbing emergencies. Not all winter plumbing emergencies are avoidable, but you can reduce the risks related to burst and frozen pipes by insulating pipes exposed to the cold or in open areas like attics and basements. Understanding your plumbing system may go a long way toward avoiding plumbing emergencies, such as knowing where your main water shut-off valve is, how to access it, and understanding the layout of your plumbing system to identify problems quickly. If you are careful with what goes down drains and toilets, such as avoiding grease, oil, and feminine hygiene products, you may prevent pipe-related blockages and plumbing emergencies.
-
Try to identify any potential dangers in the area and the source of the plumbing emergency so you know if you need to evacuate and call and emergency plumber. As soon as you experience a plumbing emergency, start gaining control of it by turning off the main water supply to your home or business, or the localized supply to the specific appliance or system involved. When you can’t address a clogged toilet by yourself with your own tools and skills, it should be considered a plumbing emergency which requires the services of a professional plumber to resolve for you. Clogged toilets that start to overflow and cause water damage to surrounding areas should be considered a plumbing emergency.
