Have you filled your car up with gas lately? If so, you've noticed the high prices. Just like it's impacting you, it's making a difference for our Mr. Rooter franchise owners as well as other small business owners.
Jamie Smith, who owns Mr. RooterPlumbing of Baltimore, recently testified before a House Small Business Committee hearing on Capitol Hill about this. He shared with lawmakers how his fuel prices have increased 29 percent since he opened his shop in 2010.
If his story sounds familiar, you may have read about him in your paper. Jamie caught the attention of the Associated Press, so stories are popping up left and right about him.
At Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we focus on providing outstanding customer experiences, and Jamie's time and efforts in D.C. will help you, our customer. As someone who has testified on Capitol Hill before, I would like to thank Jamie for what he did. I'm also impressed with Jamie's commitment to the Ronald McDonald House® in Baltimore.
He's taken our national sponsorship of Ronald McDonald House Charities® and run with it. Jamie's donated $7,500 in plumbing services and materials to the House in Baltimore over the last year and a half.
He's also involved his team. During our "Rolls of Love" Drive, he held an internal contest, and the technician who collected the most 'Wish List' items or monetary donations from customers received a day off with pay. I would also like to give a shout out to Robbie Whitley for winning that contest!
Here's wishing you a world class day.
