Typical Septic System Challenges
Detached Dividing Wall: Many septic tank owners deal with detached dividing walls when their tank is old and/or not regularly pumped. Full Tank: An overfilled septic tank can cause sewage overflow, disrupt the drain field, and create surface pooling. Roots: Often, people seek help from service professionals for septic system issues when the roots of large plants, such as trees, start growing toward septic tanks, causing extensive damage. Wall Corrosion: Bacterial activity can result in hydrogen sulfide in your tank, which can be corrosive to metal components and cause eventual failure of your septic tank’s walls.

Here is my honest review of Mr.Rooter plumbing my sewer was backed up and needed service Mr.Rooter plumbing was able to send Chris out on New years Day which most companies aren’t working on that day very pleased to get service on a Holliday. So that day Chris was only able to get about 25 feet of the line open and that took hours but the level did go down some it got me through the next couple of days Chris recommended hydro rodding the system because the normal rod machine couldn’t get through the blockage severe tree root blockage in my sewer line luckily my clean out is in the front of my yard and all waste went into the front yard which I got lucky because the back pressure blew the clean out lid off which did prevent backup in my home. So Chris the technician scheduled me for that Wednesday to start the hydro rodding process very expensive Chris told me that if the hydro can’t get through I’ve got bigger problems. and oh yeah while doing the normal rodding he pulled out the rod from the previous rodding company who wasn’t honest enough to tell me that there rod broke off in my sewer system. So Chris starts up the machine and begins the hydro rodding midway into the job a big problem happened some kind a way the rodding was going into the piping in the house and not the street side so instantly I ran out the house and told Chris that the rodding sounded like it was in the house and that it was very loud and noisy Chris immediately stopped rodding and wanted me to go back and check in the house so I did but it was to late the pressure from the hydro machine blew the cap off my waste pipe inside my house and yep now there’s waste water all over my basement floor I gotta admit I felt like crying I was so hurt by this unforeseen mishap Chris was aware and remained calm we discussed the matter and he assured me that everything would be covered Chris contacted his company explaining the matter and from there a restoration team was sent out that night at no cost to me, Chris was finally able after battling tree roots in my line for 3 or more hours, was able to clear my entire sewer line, absolutely phenomenal work by Chris. Chris also told me that the owner of the company said no matter what it takes to stay there until the job is done and the customer is happy, awesome. I was so relived that mr.rooter took responsibility and stood by there work and took care of me. Chris is truly a professional and had such integrity he is no slouch looking to cut corners very good at what he does.so the job ends lines are wide open. So the very next day the restoration team had to come back and finish up but to my surprise Chris and the owner of the company showed up to help with anything that needed to be done in the basement where the flood took place. Words can’t explain how much I appreciated that the owner of the company along with tech Chris showed up to help, wow!! So to end it all, my sewer lines are clear and open for more than a 80 ft stretch which was horribly blocked with tree roots, and the restoration team who Mr rooter sent did an amazing clean up job can’t even tell there was a waste back up in my basement as of this writing the machines are drying out any left over moisture in my basement. To whoever reads this I highly recommend Mr.rooter they are a fantastic company and stand behind there work and, are honest about what they do. If you feel like your current sewer plumbing company’s not doing a good job get rid of ‘‘em like I did and give Mr.rooter a try. I would like to Thank the owner of Mr.rooter and Chris for there hard work, and honesty. For me this is the only company that I will deal with for all my plumbing needs.

We set up the visit in order to address a really simple toilet fix (the tank was loose) and added in that the kitchen sink drained slowly. Not only did they show up on time, they moved the appointment up by a whole day! Once here they saw the situation: the toilet was simple, the kitchen not so much. They tightened the screws on the toilet tank as a courtesy, they cleared the drain at a reasonable price. Overall, I was very impressed.

From the first call to the end of service, Ian and Chris met every need and calmed my fears of having never used a plumber. Thank you for removing that pain-in-the-rear , garbage disposal!! The new piping and sink drain are the most beautiful sights! When Chris came across a problem with getting pipes to fit, he customized and and didn’t blink an eye. I truly appreciate all of your help and especially coming out in the blizzard! Also our husky really enjoyed Chris giving her ear scratches?. We will call Mr Rooter for any plumbing problems in the future.

Your location, property type, and the trusted septic tank service professionals you choose can all contribute to the costs of replacing a septic tank. Think about the type of pump you’d like to run with your septic tank, like a centrifugal or turbine pump, since your pump type can contribute to your septic tank replacement costs. Some septic systems and tanks are more cost-effective than others, so keep this in mind before choosing a conventional septic system or something more advanced like waterless, aerobic, or mound. The larger the septic tank you need to install with the help of a septic tank replacement company, the more you can expect to pay compared to if you were installing a small one.
-
There can be many variables when working out the average cost of repairing a septic tank, but simple repairs can be as little as $650, while large repairs can be as much as $6,500. Damage type is one of the leading factors in the price tag for septic tank repairs, with extensive issues like major cracks and collapsed drain fields typically costing thousands of dollars compared to minor damage like light cracks that can cost hundreds. Your chosen service professional will likely charge more to repair a large tank compared to a small one based on the cost of their time and materials. If your tank is in a hard-to-reach location, buried deeply, or generally hard to access, you may pay more to have it repaired compared to an easily accessible septic tank.
-
The care over a septic tank’s lifetime can often determine its lifespan and how soon you need to replace it. Well-installed, well-maintained, and regularly pumped septic tanks can last multiple years, with an average of 15-40, compared to poorly maintained septic tanks that may not last as long. What your septic tank is made of can contribute to how long it lasts, with steel septic tanks often lasting 15 to 20 years compared to concrete, which may last 40 years and even longer. Several factors contribute to how many years you can expect your septic tank to work at its best, including how often you pump it, how well it was designed and installed, and even soil and site conditions.
-
You might not know where your septic tank is right now, but many surface clues can help you find it, such as indents in the ground, extra healthy vegetation and grass growth, and disturbances to the earth around the area. If you have recently bought your home, refer to information left by the former owner and your inspection records, as either of these documents may have the septic tank’s location. Finding your septic tank’s location can sometimes be as straightforward as referring to the building plans for your property as the septic tank’s location can sometimes be on them. If you’ve tried everything and had no luck finding your septic tank, contact your local trusted septic tank service provider, who can use special tools to help you find it.
-
Don’t delay addressing a collapsed septic tank with trusted septic tank service providers because any leaking sewage can pose a health and safety risk for property occupants. You should not use your collapsed septic tank for any period of time since it can mean your septic system isn’t functioning as it should, leading to problems with wastewater treatment and disposal. Collapsed septic systems can cause all manner of problems that continue to worsen with use, so it’s not advisable to continue using it once you’re aware it has collapsed. There may be legal problems and health and safety violations if you continue to use your septic system after your septic tank has collapsed.
-
Regular septic tank pumping can go a long way toward maintaining a healthy septic system and extending the life of your system. Many drain and toilet products can cause damage to septic systems over time, so consider using only septic system-safe products and be mindful of what you flush. The upkeep of your septic tank drain field is crucial to the health of your septic tank, so take simple actions like planting trees away from it, parking vehicles away from it, and not installing drainage systems or sump pumps by it. Efficient water use, septic system-safe products like toilet paper, and not flushing harsh chemicals can all go a long way toward ensuring your septic tank and system is well-maintained.
-
After looking high and low for your septic tank without any luck, call in a septic tank repair companiy with specialized equipment for locating septic tanks. Septic tank repairs with a damaged baffle can involve inspecting the old part to confirm it’s the issue, ordering a new one to replace it, fitting it, and testing it to ensure the problem is solved. Some septic tank repairs require excavation of your septic tank to uncover maintenance holes and access ports, to ensure work can be carried out. System testing is an integral part of septic tank repairs, which can involve looking for signs of leakage and malfunction before and after repairs.
-
Many homeowners’ insurance providers will cover the costs of septic tank repairs when damage happens due to events outside your control, like hail, a windstorm, a fire, or lightning. Septic tank damage caused by explosions may be covered by your homeowners’ insurance policy, enabling you to carry out repairs or total replacement of your septic system. Talk to your insurance company about possible coverage for septic tank repairs caused by vandalism and natural disasters, depending on the cause. You typically won’t receive insurance funds to cover the costs of septic tank repairs if the cause of the damage relates to poor maintenance practices or typical wear and tear.
-
Septic system service providers regularly attend the properties of homeowners and business owners for issues like drain field and pipe blockages and clogs. Many homeowners and businesses deal with septic tank cracks that lead to leaks and the need for repairs and replacement, often due to pressure, age, and ground movement. You may encounter issues like sewage backing up and overflowing if you’re a high-usage household or business and don’t prioritize regular maintenance, repairs, and septic tank pumping. If your drain field was poorly installed, your septic system is old, or you have trees planted too close to it, you can experience a number of related issues.
-
Many small cracks in septic tanks can be repaired by septic system service professionals using concrete or epoxy sealant products specially designed for septic tanks. Many of the best septic tank service providers recommend the use of septic tank patch kits with adhesives and patching compounds for light cracks in septic tanks. If you have a large or structural crack in your septic tank, a trained service professional may deem it suitable for repairs by using extra materials to reinforce the damaged area. When cracks in septic systems are severe, septic tank replacement is often a more sensible option than repairs.
