Customer Reviews in Streamwood, Illinois

  • We were in a bind right before going on vacation for Thanksgiving. Our sewer had backed up, but Mr. Rooter came out the very next day to unclog the pipes with a hydra scrub. What they found with further inspection that the cast iron sewer pipe was on its last legs. Steve K. showed us the many places in the pipe that were nearly disintegrated. We needed a deep sewer line replacement out to the village line. They also unblocked a knot of roots that was causing some of the back up. Steve K gave us a number of options, but seeing this house is nearly 70 years old we thought it would be better to be safer than sorry. After the initial fix-up, Steve K felt that more needed to be done with pipe in the crawl space. We chose to completely replace the cast iron with a continuous line of PVC. On further inspection while doing the crawl space work Steve W found two leaks one from the toilet pipe coming down from upstairs & one other close by. Steve W worked on the outside project too and was assisted today by Rafael. They were on-time, courteous & hard working. After everything was done today I was shown pictures of what was completed. They are coming out one more time to adjust the toilet in the main bathroom by removing the last piece of cast iron so it will be more secure. From the beginning speaking with Marie at the main office, to Steve K being professional & fair, to Steve W & Rafael we are big fans of Mr. Rooter in Elk Grove for any of our future plumbing needs. Services: Plumbing leak detection, Sewer repair, Plumbing pipe repair

  • My home warranty company contacted Mr. Rooter for a service call on my home. Scheduling was easy and there was communication throughout the day regarding the ETA for my appointment. The technician dispatched, Johnny, was extraordinarily respectful of my home and family and took every care necessary to follow best practices as prescribed by the CDC, local authorities, and common sense due to the pandemic. He took his time in listening to my concerns, gathering information, and assessing the layout of my plumbing as we were investigating a foul smell that is taking over one of my rooms near the bathroom. We scheduled a follow up camera inspection to look for leaks in the vent pipe or sewer lines in the home. Alas, a few days later I realized the cause of the problem was in the HVAC system. Sharon was very understanding and helped me process a refund for the deposit I had already paid for the camera inspection. I will definitely keep Mr. Rooter's number saved to my phone for my future plumbing needs.

  • The technician was very professional and he solved my problem. I had called to have my bathtub unclogged. The water would go down eventually, but when I showered it would take only a few minutes and I would be standing in at least 3 inches of water. He used a treatment and power rooted. Tub is draining perfectly!

  • We had a great experience using Mr. Rooter Plumbing, not once but twice. Each time the service was great and they found and fixed or replaced everything we were having a problem with. They also did a free pipe inspection. The last job they did was a sump pump replacement and water heater replacement. Their prices are fair and the plumbers are honest and friendly. The customer service is very quick to answer your call or respond as soon as they can. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. Services: Water heater installation, Plumbing pipe repair

Frequently Asked Questions About Plumbing in Streamwood, Illinois

Contact Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Streamwood, Illinois if you have any questions about our service offerings. We have compiled answers for our more commonly asked questions below.

  • Most dripping faucets are caused by wear and tear over time, with valve seats, washers, and other components often resulting in faucet leaks when they begin to wear out. High water pressure can be among the most common causes of leaky faucets, but it can be an easy fix by asking your local plumber to test the pressure and adjust it if required. Having hard water on your property can sometimes put your faucets at risk of leaking since minerals and solids can build up on them, leading to rust. You don’t have to repair a dripping faucet yourself, especially if you’re not experienced; contact a local plumber in your area to do it for you.

  • If you’ve noticed low water pressure and you’ve recently had maintenance or an inspection that required the use of your primary water shutoff valves, check to make sure they have been fully opened back up. You may have an obstruction or clog in your pipe causing low water pressure, so contact a trusted plumbing service provider in your area to perform a thorough pipe inspection. If you regularly experience low to high water pressure, or vice versa, with minimal time in between, you may need to replace your home’s pressure regulator. Plumbing leaks can cause low water pressure, so contact a plumber in your area and inspect your yard for any signs of unusual wet spots.

  • Slow-draining sinks can have many causes, so contact a trusted plumbing service provider in your area to help you diagnose and repair it. Many instances of slow-draining sinks are caused by soap scum and grease in your pipes, but you can try cleaning the blockages with vinegar and baking soda. Drain snakes, or augers, are useful tools for tackling slow-draining sinks, as they can latch onto blockages inside your drains and help pull them out. Don’t forget to check your P-trap when your sink isn’t draining very well, as it’s easy for debris to accumulate in it and need to be cleaned out by yourself or a trusted plumber.

  • Regular plumbing maintenance can prevent plumbing leaks since services like drain cleaning and water heater flushing may reveal and prevent future issues. If you avoid flushing harmful products down your drain, such as eggshells, oil, coffee grounds, and feminine hygiene products, you may have healthy and damage-free pipes. Given that high water pressure can damage pipes and cause leaks, install a pressure regulator or frequently check your water pressure if this is a concern. If you live in a cold part of the United States, avoid weather-related plumbing woes by protecting, covering, and insulating exposed pipes in winter.

  • When you aren’t sure how to diagnose or resolve the issue of a foul-smelling sink, contact a plumbing service provider in your area for assistance. Clogs in your sink can lead to awful odors seeping up from your drain, as bacteria find them ideal for breeding and produce foul-smelling waste. A dried out P-traps on a infrequently used sink can allow sewer gases to seep into your home, which is a common cause of foul sink smells. Check your garbage disposal as the cause of any terrible odors in or around your sink since they can become stinky from grease, decomposing food, sewer gases, bacteria, and mold.

  • Consider your hot water demand when you don’t think you’re getting enough hot water, as your water heater may not be able to keep up with the number of users. Some homeowners have their water heaters set on a low temperature, so you may be able to adjust it to no higher than 120 degrees F to start enjoying more hot water. Older water heaters, in particular, can stop producing hot water when an internal part breaks, such as a heating element, a thermostat, or a gas valve. You don’t have to diagnose hot water problems yourself; contact a reputable plumber in your area to diagnose and repair your water heater for you.

  • Something as simple as a leaking faucet, a drippy fixture, or a leaking pipe can explain a high water bill, so reach out to a plumbing service provider to diagnose the problem. Pay close attention to your outdoor irrigation system’s settings since you may not be running your system in an efficient way to keep water use to a minimum. Appliances, such as water heaters, ice makers, and dishwashers, are a source of water waste when they’re old, inefficient, or in poor condition. Failing components in toilets can result in silent or inconspicuous leaks, so inspect your toilet as a cause of a high water bill since you can lose as much as 80,000 gallons a year from an undetected leaky toilet tank.

  • ·Turn off water and power: Turning off the power and water to your home or business after a pipe bursts can be a good idea to keep property occupants safe since water and power don’t mix. Contact a trusted plumbing service provider: Don’t hesitate to call a trusted plumber when your pipe bursts since they can repair or replace it quickly and professionally. Clean up excess water: Unless there is sewage to contend with, start cleaning up excess water from a burst pipe with mops, buckets, and towels shortly after the issue is resolved. Document any damage: If you believe that your insurance company will cover the costs of your burst pipe, write a detailed list of your losses and capture both video and photo evidence of damage.

  • Pay close attention to the condition of your toilet’s flapper and chain since a rusty or stuck chain and a worn-out, brittle flapper can cause your toilet-running woes. A float with water in it needs to be replaced because it can be sitting lower than it should in your toilet, making your float valve stay open, and causing your toilet to continue running after flushing. Check your toilet’s fill valve when it keeps running since the failure of this part means that it’s not able to turn off your toilet’s water supply, leading to it continuing to run. Reach out to a plumber you trust in your local area since they can quickly and efficiently determine the cause of your toilet running woes and fix them for your peace of mind.

  • Many homeowners can swiftly turn off their water supply to their properties by locating the internal valves inside their homes and turning them clockwise until the water flow stops. Many properties have underground water meter boxes featuring security bolts that you open with a pentagon socket wrench to turn off the water supply. Depending on the water meter box you have on your property, you may need a pair of pliers or a meter key to turn off the water supply to your property. Most reputable and trusted plumbers are happy to field calls from customers who need help to find and turn off their home’s water supply.
