Mr. Rooter to the rescue! Our water heater went out the day our daughter’s family was to arrive for an extended visit. I explained our situation to the pleasant lady that answered the phone, who relayed the message to the manager, Nic. Nic kindly squeezed us into the schedule, and sent James to asses the situation. James determined the problem, and quickly left to get the water heater we needed. When he returned, he uninstalled the old heater, carefully removing the old parts, and cleaned up the leaked dirty water. James professionally installed the new unit, and tested that it was working properly. He then cleaned up the area, making sure there where no little parts or wrapping on the floor. James was courteous and friendly, and thoroughly explained how to use the new water heater. One hour later, our daughter’s family arrived and were able to take steaming, hot showers. Thank you, Nic, James and Mr. Rooter for saving the day!

To understand sewer line repairs and help you decide your next step, explore our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ below. You can contact Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida online or by phone with any plumbing-related questions or concerns.
-
Contact a sewer line installation professional for specific information related to sewer line replacement costs for your property, since the costs can depend on the length of the replacement sewer line in feet, the installation depth, and location — such as under a driveway, in landscaping, or under a concrete slab. The average price for replacing a sewer line can be determined by your chosen expert’s replacement method, like traditional excavation, pipe bursting, or pipe lining. Many sewer line materials can vary in price, such as PVC versus ABS and HDPE, which can play a part in the overall costs associated with replacing your sewer lines. Labor costs, site restoration, access, permits, and regulations can all contribute to the costs associated with replacing both commercial and residential sewer lines.
-
Many sewer line repair experts charge $50 to $300 per foot for sewer line repairs, but the average cost to repair a sewer line can depend on factors like the type of damage your sewer lines have. How your chosen sewer line repair team repairs your sewer line may contribute to the cost, such as trenchless methods like pipe bursting and pipe lining or traditional excavation by digging a trench. The extent of sewer line damage can play a part in the repair bill you receive, with more localized damage often costing less than more extensive damage. The need for various parts and materials can contribute to sewer line repair costs, such as ABS, PVC, and HDPE pipes as well as repair sleeves, connectors, and couplings.
-
Sewer line repairs can fall on your shoulders as the property owner if there are problems in the upper laterals sections that carry sewage to the main sewer lines from your property. If you have problems in the lower section of your sewer lines that link the upper section to the main line, you may find that you must cover the costs of repairs. Your city may cover the costs of repairs relating to public-serving infrastructure, such as sewer lines connected to the city’s treatment facility. It’s not always easy to know who should cover the costs of sewer line repairs — you or the city — so contact a sewer line repair business to find out.
-
Contact your homeowners’ insurance provider as soon as your sewer lines are damaged beyond repair since they may cover the costs of replacement if related to a fire, windstorm, hail, or lightning. Vandalism, falling objects, aircraft and vehicles, and explosions are some of the many situations in which many homeowners’ insurance providers may cover sewer line replacement costs. Many insurance companies cover sewer line replacement if a riot, civil disturbance, volcanic eruption, or a vehicle causes damage to a sewer line. If your sewer lines are damaged beyond repair because you’ve made avoidable errors or they were poorly maintained or installed, you may not be able to claim the costs of replacement through your homeowners insurance policy.
-
The rules surrounding whether you need a permit to replace your sewer line can depend on where in the United States you live since every state has its own set of rules and regulations. Being required to obtain a sewer line replacement permit can often depend on where your property is located. Err on the side of caution and ask for advice from your local city officials, but many rural dwellers without city service connections don’t need to request sewer line replacement permits. When you’re exploring sewer line replacement in your commercial or residential property, you will likely require a permit if you have water and sewer connections.
-
Sewer line materials certainly contribute to the typical lifespan of sewer pipes, with the likes of PVC thought to have an expected lifespan of up to 100 years. Trees near your sewer lines may affect their lifespan, with tree roots potentially causing damage to pipes, blockages, and even air and water pressure changes. A shortened lifespan can be the outcome for property owners with metal-containing sewer lines exposed to minerals such as magnesium and calcium for extended periods. A number of things can affect sewer line lifespans, such as temperature extremes, blockages resulting from debris, sludge, and grease, poor maintenance, and improper installation.
-
Most trusted sewer line replacement experts will be able to complete a full sewer line replacement in as little as one to five days, depending on the complexity of the job. The replacement method can often contribute to the timeframe for sewer line repairs, such as traditional excavation with trench digging and trenchless replacement using pipe lining and pipe bursting. The length of your sewer line can determine how long the replacement costs — the more line you have, the more work that is required and the more time that is needed. You may be surprised how many factors can contribute to a sewer line replacement timeline, such as the condition of the soil on your property, sewer line depths, and required site preparation.
-
Unpleasant smells around drains are among the most common signs of a broken or damaged sewer pipe that needs to be repaired or replaced by a trusted expert. Don’t delay calling a trusted plumbing service provider for slow drainage since this issue can often indicate a problem with your sewer lines, such as a break or blockage. Broken sewer pipes can be associated with symptoms like unusual drain gurgling sounds and wet spots in your yard when everywhere else on your property is dry. Sewer pipe breaks can sometimes cause property foundation cracks, especially when they’ve been left for an extended period, leading to weakened and waterlogged soil underneath structures.
-
Fixing a broken sewer pipe underground is as straightforward as contacting a licensed and insured service professional with years of experience in the industry. Traditional excavation is a standard sewer line repair method, with service providers digging up the ground, repairing or replacing the pipe, putting the dirt back in place, and restoring the area. Many sewer line service providers fix broken sewer pipes underground with a trenchless method known as pipe lining: place liners inside old pipes, inflate them, and create new pipes. Pipe bursting can sometimes be an effective sewer pipe repair method, which involves breaking up an old pipe with a bursting head while putting a new pipe in its place.
-
Contact a sewer line repair team about sewer line replacement if you’re tired of funding never-ending repairs. When sewer lines haven’t been well looked after in the past and now require costly repairs, sewer line replacement can often be a better option than repairs. Catastrophic tree root damage may have you replacing a sewer line sooner rather than later — while also potentially taking care of the tree to prevent it from happening again! Sewer line replacement can often be necessary when their layout isn’t appropriate, they haven’t been installed correctly, or there is a buildup of material in them that has caused damage.
