Plumber in Terrebonne, OR

Everyday plumbing for Terrebonne, Smith Rock, and Crooked River Ranch

Need a plumber in Terrebonne, OR? Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Central Oregon has worked that stretch of Highway 97 north of Redmond for more than 20 years, and owner Greg Muensterman has 46 years in the trade. Most of what we do out here is everyday plumbing: a shut-off that will not shut off, a mainline that is blocked and will not drain. We bring state of the art sewer cameras on every van, quote the price before the work starts, and have a technician on call around the clock.

Plumbing services we provide in Terrebonne

Terrebonne is the small town on Highway 97 between Redmond and the Jefferson County line, with Smith Rock standing over it to the east and the Crooked River canyon running past it to the north and west. It is a town of older houses on big lots in the core, ranchettes and horse property on the flats, and Crooked River Ranch, a community of a few thousand homes spread across the canyon rim where the roads are long and the help is a ways off. Terrebonne has a community water system but no sewer, so nearly every home here is on a septic tank, and a good share of the places outside the water district are on their own well. We are in Terrebonne every week on our way between Redmond and Madras.

About us. Greg Muensterman started plumbing in Southern California in 1980 and opened Mr. Rooter in Bend in 2006, out of a spare bedroom. Today our licensed plumbers and seasoned drain techs work out of our Peerless Court shop on the north side of Bend, every van carries a sewer camera, and the larger vans carry a natural gas and an electric water heater so a replacement does not wait for a second trip. We are a local, owner operated shop. The person who calls you back after hours is qualified to handle your issue.

The everyday calls. Terrebonne work is rarely dramatic, and that is the point. A bad old angle stop under a sink that will not close when the faucet starts leaking. Waste piping under a bathroom that has rusted or cracked after fifty years. A mainline blockage that backs up the whole house. We carry the parts for all of it, we fix it on the first visit most of the time, and we tell you the price before we touch anything. Those small jobs are how most of our Terrebonne customers found us, and the big jobs come later.

Shut-off valves and supply lines. The angle stops under your sinks and behind your toilets are the valves you need most and use least, and in a house built before the 1990s they are often multi-turn brass valves that seize open. When a faucet or a toilet fill valve fails, that stop is supposed to save you, and it does not. We replace seized stops with quarter-turn ball valves and swap the old flex lines at the same time. See our plumbing repair page.

Septic-side plumbing and mainline blockages. With no sewer in Terrebonne, a backup is either in the line from the house to the tank or in the tank and drain field. Every one of our vans carries a sewer camera, so we find out which before anyone digs or pays for a pump-out. We clear the mainline with a cable or our high pressure trailer jetter, show you on screen what caused it, and when the pipe itself has failed, our trenchless sewer line repair options avoid a trench across the yard. Slow-drain details are on our drain cleaning page.

Wells and water quality. Outside the Terrebonne water district and on much of Crooked River Ranch, homes are on private wells, and the water on this side of the county can run hard. We handle everything from the pressure tank into the house: pressure tanks, pressure-reducing valves, softeners, and filtration sized for your water. The pump down in the well is a licensed well contractor's job, and we will say so when that is what your symptoms point to. See our water softener and filtration service page.

Water heaters. Our larger vans carry a 50-gallon natural gas and a 50-gallon electric Bradford White unit, and a lot of the heaters out here are propane, which we handle. Repairs most often come down to a thermocouple or an element and generally run $375 to $650, with a one-year warranty on every repair and installation. See our water heater repair and replacement page.

Frozen pipes. The flats around Terrebonne and the rim at Crooked River Ranch get the wind, and lines through unheated crawl spaces, pump houses, and exterior walls are the ones that freeze. A frozen line cannot be properly repaired until it thaws, because there is almost never only one break; we bring the system up to temperature safely, find every leak, and fix them in one visit. See pipe insulation.

Emergency plumbing. After 4 p.m. on weekdays and all weekend, our phones roll to a 24-hour answering service that texts the on-call technician. He calls you back himself with a real arrival window, and the flat-rate price is the same at midnight as at noon. See our emergency plumbing service page.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Septic. Terrebonne has a community water system in the core but no sewer, so a backup here is either the line between the house and the tank or the tank and drain field itself. We camera the line first, because most "septic" backups turn out to be a clog or a break in the house line, which is a plumbing fix and not a pump-out.
