Now that 2015 has come to an end, many people are starting to make their list of resolutions for next year. A resolution is a promise that you make to yourself about a behavior that you’re going to change, or a goal that you’re going to reach.
Resolutions come in all different shapes and sizes. Some people make a resolution to eat healthier or to exercise more, and other resolve to stop a bad habit like smoking.
While you are thinking about what kind of resolution you will be making for 2016, consider your home and the way that you use it. Add some of these resolutions for better maintenance of your plumbing system to ensure that 2016 is not the year that you have a major plumbing disaster:
- Hang a list of items that should not be put down the garbage disposal near your sink. This will ensure that you, and everyone else in your household, are held accountable and do not put items in the garbage disposal that could cause a serious malfunction.
- If you haven’t done so already, wrap a water heater blanket around the tank of your water heater. This will insulate the water inside of the tank from the cold temperatures and prevent the heating element from working overtime.
- Make this the year that you make an effort to conserve water. Saving water is an important responsibility of us all. And, there are a lot of things that you and your family can do to keep your plumbing system water-efficient.
- Have your pipes inspected going into the new year. Even the smallest little thing could quickly escalate when it comes to your plumbing system so, it’s better to identify the little things before they get too far out of hand.
Whether you have resolutions for spending more time in the gym or, take more vacation days to decompress in 2016, make sure that you add some practical things to your resolution list and keep your plumbing system in top working condition. Maintenance is the best way to avoid a major malfunction, and day-to-day use is where you can really reign in some bad habits.
