I do not want to get into the nitty-gritty details of the events, but I DO want to talk about our experience with Mr. Rooter. (Sewage back up and house trap replacement with basement excavation) We had some ups and downs, and not everything went according to plan. HOWEVER, Anthony H. was there every step of the way. He gave us honest information and details with the first ER Service call. He answered all of our questions in a helpful, professional way so that we could make the best decisions for our home. He was there getting things on track when finance company messed up our quote. He was available via phone call or text, always. He kept us in the loop and helped us keep informed on the progress of the situation, and when yet another issue popped up…he wasn't even here but he stopped by personally after it was handled. He's a good person, with a good heart, who really cares about his work and the work of the guys sent in when he isn't here. MR Rooter is lucky to have a leader like Anthony on their team who can speak so frankly with customers and help them feel at ease.

The hot water pipe under my sink came dislodged on a Saturday and I was able to get someone to come out within the hour. Jake was great and he had to spend almost 4 hours there redoing the previous shoddy workmanship that was done. If I had one complaint it would be it is pretty pricey, but I guess in a jam what else can you do? I just asked to have the garbage disposal replaced, which I had already purchased, and I didn't realize til I paid it was a $500 fee to have that done. Other than that everything was quick, smooth, and Jake was very friendly and personable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Plumbing in Clairton, Pennsylvania

Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Clairton, Pennsylvania is here to answer any questions you have about our business offerings. You can learn more by reading the answers to our frequently asked questions.

  • Faucets can start to drip and leak when components like valve seats and washers begin to wear out from regular use, which happens every time you loosen and tighten your faucet. High water pressure can be the source of a leaky faucet, but this issue can be resolved by having a reputable plumber test and adjust the pressure as needed. If you’ve noticed rust and corrosion around your faucet, this might be why your tap is dripping — it can be caused by hard water that leads to mineral build-up and, eventually, rust. Contact a trusted plumbing service provider without delay if you’ve noticed a drippy faucet; they can offer professional diagnostic and repair services for your peace of mind.

  • If someone has recently needed to use your water shutoff valves, check to ensure they are now entirely open since even a slight closure may cause your water pressure to drop. In some situations, low water pressure can be caused by a blockage or clog in a pipe – call a plumbing service provider to take care of this for you. Many cases of low water pressure are caused by faulty or worn pressure regulators, which means that your water pressure can drastically change from high to low or low to high without much transition time. Look around your property for wet areas and contact a plumber if you find any since plumbing leaks can sometimes cause changes in water pressure.

  • Don’t underestimate the convenience of contacting a plumber in your area to both diagnose and remedy a slow-draining sink in your house or business. When you suspect that your sink is slow-draining due to a grease or soap scum blockage, try a few pantry ingredients to clear it, like vinegar and baking soda. Some blockages that cause sinks to drain slowly can be stubborn, so insert a plumbing snake into your drain and pull out anything that might be in the way. Despite being out of sight underneath your sink, the P-trap can be a common cause of blockages and clogs, which, fortunately, are easy enough to rectify in most cases.

  • Preventing plumbing leaks can be as straightforward as scheduling regular maintenance, such as water heater flushing and drain cleaning that may reveal potential problems. Protect your pipes and prevent leaks by being mindful of what you pour down your drain – avoid problematic items like feminine hygiene products, paper towels, and cooking oil. When you know your property has high water pressure, address it with a pressure regulator or the help of a plumbing service provider since it may lead to plumbing leaks in the future. If you have any exposed pipes and live in a cold part of the country, get ready for winter and potentially prevent cold-related pipe damage by insulating and covering your pipes.

  • When you’re unsure why your sink smells bad, contact a plumber in your area to run through possible options and take care of the problem. A foul-smelling odor coming from your sink can be a sign of a blockage or clog because bacteria like to accumulate on clogs, breed, and produce foul smells. If you have a sink in your house that you don’t use very often, smelling a pungent odor isn’t uncommon because the P-trap can dry out and let sewer gases enter your home. Garbage disposals can be a source of an awful smell around your sink, often due to decomposing food and grease, sewer gases from a trap not working properly, and mold or bacteria.

  • Not having enough hot water can be a simple case of having a small water heater in which demand is outstripping supply in your household. Your water heater’s thermostat could be set too low to produce a comfortable water temperature, so adjust it to no higher than 120 degrees. A number of water heater components are involved in heating water, so a lack of hot water may mean one or more are broken, like a heating element, thermostat, or gas valve. Licensed and insured plumbers in your area can diagnose and repair water heaters that aren’t producing enough hot water so you can enjoy an adequate supply once more.

  • Call a trusted plumber if you receive a high water bill because leaking fixtures, pipes, and faucets are among the most common causes. Your irrigation system can be the cause of high water bills if it’s not on the most efficient setting — check yours to rule this out as a cause. An unusually high water bill can be caused by one of your water-using appliances not working at its best, such as a water heater, washing machine, ice maker, or dishwasher. If you’ve seen a silent leak in your toilet tank, repair it as soon as possible since you can waste tens of thousands of gallons of water every year, causing a higher water bill.

  • ·Turn off water and power: Keep your property’s occupants safe after a pipe bursts in your home or business by turning off the water and electricity if it’s safe to do so. Contact a trusted plumbing service provider: A burst pipe is not something most property owners can handle on their own, so contact a plumbing service provider you trust. Clean up excess water: In the immediate aftermath of a burst pipe, prioritize your cleanup efforts with buckets, mops, and towels unless sewage is present. Document any damage: If your burst pipe has caused significant damage that you want to claim insurance for, write down a detailed list of all the damage and take plenty of photos and videos.

  • Your toilet’s flapper or chain could be malfunctioning, so look for signs of brittleness or wear on your flapper and see whether your chain is rusty or caught on something. A float filled with water that needs to be replaced can sit lower in your tank than needed and leave the float valve open, causing your toilet to keep running. Buy a new fill valve if your toilet keeps running after being flushed since the failure of this part can mean it can’t cut off the water supply to your toilet. You don’t have to repair your toilet on your own; contact a trusted plumber in your area to help stop your toilet from running after you’ve flushed it.

  • Many homeowners can easily shut off their water supply inside their homes by locating the internal water valves and turning them clockwise until the water stops flowing. If you have an underground water meter box on your property with security bolts, a pentagon socket wrench can help you unlock it and turn off the water supply. When heading to your water meter box, be sure to bring a pair of pliers or a meter key, as these tools are needed to access the main water valve on your property. If you aren’t having any luck turning off the water supply to your property, contact your local trusted plumber for help and advice.
